How Jelly eSIM works
Buy it, scan it, land online. Here is every step, including the parts other guides skip.
What should you do before your flight?
Check your phone
Confirm your device is eSIM capable and carrier unlocked. Our device check does this in one tap, or look for Add eSIM in your cellular settings.
Pick a plan that fits the trip
One country or a whole region, sized by how long you are away and how heavily you use data. The estimator on our homepage does the maths for you.
Install on Wi-Fi
Your QR code arrives by email within seconds. Scan it while you still have Wi-Fi at home. The profile then lives on your phone until you need it.
Label it and leave it off
Name the new line something obvious like Jelly, then leave it switched off until you arrive so nothing starts early.
What do you do when you land?
Turn the Jelly line on
In cellular settings, enable the Jelly line and set it as your data line. Leave your home line on for calls and texts.
Turn off roaming on your home line
This is the step people forget. Switching off data roaming for your primary SIM is what stops your carrier from billing you.
Allow data roaming on the Jelly line
Counterintuitive but correct: a travel eSIM connects to partner networks, so it needs data roaming enabled on its own line.
Give it a minute
First connection can take a couple of minutes. If nothing happens, toggle airplane mode once and it usually settles.
What if something goes wrong?
No data after arriving
Check that the Jelly line is your data line, that data roaming is on for that line, and that the APN matches the one in your install email. A single airplane-mode toggle fixes most cases.
Slower than expected
Manually select a different partner network in your carrier settings. Coverage quality varies by operator, and a manual pick often beats the automatic choice.
WhatsApp asking to re-verify
That means WhatsApp is bound to the wrong line. Point it back at your home number and keep that SIM active for SMS.
Out of data mid-trip
Top up from your dashboard. It applies to the eSIM already on your phone, so there is nothing new to install.
